Prague is the capital of Czech Republic, and served by Ruzyne Airport. For a romantic city break,

Prague
Prague in morning mood
fly to Prague and soak up the fantastic atmosphere the city has to offer.

Sights you can't miss:

Prague is full of amazing sights, far too many to see everything in a short weekend break! You can still have a fanastic time if you do a little research before you go,  preparing a list of places you want to visit. Here are our recommendations for some places you just can't miss:

  • Prague Castle (Pražský hrad) The biggest ancient castle in the world, according to Guinness Book of Records.
  • Charles Bridge (Karlův most) Constructed in the 14th-16th centuries, Charles Bridge links the Old Town to Prague Castle and adjacent areas. The 10m wide foot bridge swarms by day with painters and kiosk owners vying for tourists money.
    • Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí) Old town square is the heart of Prague's historical center. Bordered by wonderfully restored buildings, you can enjoy Týn Church and join hundreds of tourists gazing at the Astronomical Clock (Pražský orloj). On the hour there is a presentation of statues of the Apostles at the doorways above the clock. (Get there for 12 o'clock to see all 12!)
    • Jewish Quarter (Josefov) Located between the Old Town Square and the Vltava River, originally where the Jewish community in Prague were forced to settle in the 13th century. The buildings in this area are considered amoungst the best preserved Jewish historical monuments in the whole of Europe. A guided walking tour of this area is highly recommended.
    • Petrin Hill (Petřín) Head towards Prague's mini Eiffel Tower (Petřínská rozhledna), easily visible from Charles Bridge and many places within the city to Petřín Hill park. Petřín Hill provides amazing views of the skyline. The energetic can walk, or take the funicular starting on Újezd street.

Where to stay in Prague:

Prague is divided into 15 zones (Prague 1, Prague 2, etc). Most parts of the city are linked by an excellent tram and underground network which are easy for tourists to navigate. Choosing your minibreak accommodation anywhere with good access to these transport networks will help you on your way to a successful trip. We recommend Prague 1 if you love being right in the centre, this is where most hotels are located - but be prepared for higher prices. If you are looking for apartments, hostels or pensions you will probably be looking in the more residential areas. Prague 2, 3, 4 and 5 can still be very good options. (But check the metro maps!)

Suggested 3 Day Prague Itinerary:

Our proposed itineraries assume 3 full days, and a reasonably leasurely pace so you still get a chance to relax. You should have time to soak up some atmosphere, enjoy some nice local food and drink. If you are losing some time due to travelling, you can pick and choose from our recommendations or just try to keep moving a little quicker than normal.
